The development of world class expressways, availability of metro rail network and tech-based public transport make Noida-Greater Noida an in-demand stretch. This has brought in more developers, projects and home seekers here.
Noida is adding more public facilities and conveniences to its fold with every passing day. This week, Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) indicated that will soon introduce app-based buses in Noida and Greater Noida. With this service, the users will be able to see things like number of seats and the closest bus available through the hi-tech app.
The corporation has handed over the contracts which will make it feasible to ply 105 buses for 13 routes between Noida and Greater Noida region. Also, the corporation would introduce the buses for the first time in the country for disabled people.
There’s more good news for Noida residents. Next month, the transport department will issue e-challans, to traffic violators through a mobile application. The city will soon have a new traffic cell in Sector 94 that will ensure smooth movement of traffic. This was envisaged in October 2014 and is near completion now.
Noida sheds old image
There was a time, particularly a decade ago, when Noida was perceived as being ‘far away’ or ‘unapproachable’. That was a time when DND didn’t exist. Then, the connectivity between Delhi and Noida was through Kalindi Kunj bridge or via East Delhi passages. These were rough, broken patches of roads where traffic hauls for long stretches was a given. No taxi wanted to come to pick or drop commuters from Noida and autos were found rarely.
Cut to 2016, Noida is one of the easily approachable NCR cities. Gurgaon is connected to the tip of south and west Delhi but one has to travel for one hour at least to reach there. Faridabad is connected to another end of south Delhi and has mostly industrial stretch in that part of the city.
In 2006 itself, the NTBCL started constructing the eight-lane DND Flyway and that change the fate of Noida forever. In 2008 when DND opened its operations and industries, factories and offices started coming the Noida way and along came multiple housing options.
Back then, the space available in Noida was ample and the property prices ranged from Rs 2,000-2,500 per sq ft (in city centre). This was far more affordable when compared to Delhi and Gurgaon both of which were pegging residential real estate prices at Rs 5,000-6,000 per sq ft respectively. Property developers saw the golden opportunity in this city and their fortunes changed soon.
Today Noida is one the fastest growing cities across India. It was pegged as having one of the highest per capita income in the last census. The local government too has been benevolent in doling out sops for establishing industries, factories, commercial spaces, residential projects in the city. Result: Noida has hundreds of new housing projects in the city where new residents are flocking in every passing year.
New areas coming up
Noida central is chock a block and has extended new areas of development, namely Greater Noida, Yamuna Expressway and Greater Noida West.
Noida is connected with Delhi from DND and this takes care of most traffic. The connecting road between Noida and Delhi across Kalindi kunj barrage has been repaired and a parallel eight lane road is being constructed there. This road, on entering Noida, leads to recently constructed Mahamaya flyover which is a huge loops connecting all prominent roads in Noida.
The expressway between Noida and Greter Noida is world class and its stretch on Yamuna Expressway region is state-of-the-art. The internal roads in Noida are well maintained too.
The advent of metro in Noida in the beginning of this decade has been a boon too. Presently metro rail connectivity in Noida is till botanical garden station, but this will be extended will Greater Noida in one ends and Saket in Delhi at the other end. That will take about five years to happen but that will create a seamless connectivity through the city.
Taxi services to and fro the city are plenty, and add to that the bike taxi that recently started options in the city. With the infrastructure growing, the city real estate is in upswing already.
