Delhi’s new driverless Metro trains will be rolled out in Noida too. These automated trains will run on the 3.9 km link between Delhi’s Kalindi Kunj and Noida’s Botanical Garden, which is likely to be operational in December. Trials will be undertaken for about four months after which the Metro will be able to ferry passengers. The original target for completion of the track was March 2017, while trials were to start by December 2016. The three stations along the link will also for the first time be equipped with platform screen doors, a cutting-edge safety feature that consists of transparent doors separating rail tracks from platforms. These have been revealed in a progress report submitted by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to the Noida Authority earlier this week. More>>
