Drinking water is to get costlier in Greater Noida as Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority has decided to increase 10 per cent hike in water supply from April 1. The authority has also planned to introduce water metre system in the city. Initially, the authorities will cover all group housings, commercial and industrial areas. The entire process of installation of water metres will be completed in the next three and four months. The motive behind installation of water metres is to ensure exact payment of bill based on exact consumption. So far, the authority charges bill based on the plot size. Up to one thousand sq. meter plot size meter rates are fixed and above one thousand sq. meter plot Rs 12 per kiloliter is charged.
